MMP Update #2

Hi everyone! Unfortunately, I will not be uploading a screencast to accompany my post because I have laryngitis at the moment.  I will include screen shots of the progress of my site along with notes explaining what I still want to work on and what I have changed since my last update.

Here is a look at the home page of my site.  I haven't changed much from the first update.

When you continue scrolling you start hitting the video critiques of the media programs.  I am still working on adding more videos, but I have already gone over every program that I plan on including.  Below are my notes on each program that I compiled before I record the reviews.  This is pretty much the last step I have to accomplish.

I added a crucial part to my site, the forum.  There are a total of six different forums for people to chat in.  There are some specific forums like troubleshooting for audio, still, or video media and more general forums like general questions which is a place where students can ask any question not directly related to a specific program.  This would be a great place for students to inquire about time management for online classes.
I did not change the About or Contact me page since the first update.  I like the overall structure of my sight as I finally see it starting to come together.  I think I have figured out exactly how I want it to look and feel.  Any feedback is definitely appreciated!

  1. Nice additions to your site. I think adding a forum is a very important part to the site because it allows more interactivity with the users. Often times, when I am looking for advice or help on how to do something specific, I usually check forums because it gives a platform to many people who have knowledge on that subject that I would not usually interact with otherwise. Great idea there, and feel better!

  2. Hey Ashleigh,
Hope you are feeling better, that is the worst! I really like your focus and think it is important to support teachers as they move away from lecture based classroom instruction. The flipped classroom model might be beneficial for teachers. Multimodal lessons and student creations enhance learning in every subject!
Praise- I love how you have made the bullet points for each tool. I tend to be wordy, people just want to know the pros and cons of each tool. If you include too much detail in text or length you tend to loose your viewer.
Question- Will you be making a video for each of the tools or just highlighting the stand out tools? Could you maybe include examples of these being used in the classroom?
Polish- What can you do to make your tagline easier to read. It I difficult to read the font before it is enlarged. Maybe change the color, font or size to enhance readability of the homepage. I really like the different forum categories you have created. I also started a few message boards but have had little traffic. How can we get the conversation started?
Overall your site is looking great. Can’t wait to see the final product!
